Belshazzar’s Foolish Feast: Diversions, Distractions, and the Folly of Ignoring Eternity | Daniel 5

Here are some notes Greg took for our study of Daniel 5:

1. Worshiping idols is foolish and wicked and ultimately deadly (v 4, 23).
2. Being cavalier with or misusing what is devoted to God brings serious consequences (v 2-3, 22-23)
3. Learn from how God has worked in others (v 18-23)
4. Be ready to speak the truth no matter the occasion, no matter who we're speaking to, and no matter the threat/reward for doing so (v 17-28)
5. Speak the truth because doing so glorifies God and it is right to do so, not to increase earthly wealth (v 17)
6. Remember that all earthly kingdoms, no matter how great, will be brought to an end (v 30-31)
7. True prosperity cannot be measured by earthly possessions and pleasures (v 1, 29-31)
8. A day of reckoning is coming for all who mock God and His people and His truth (v 30)
